Spoken English Part 8 எதை வாசிக்க வேண்டும்?

அலுவலகப் பணியில் ஆழ்ந்த ரகுவின் அருகிலேயே நின்றிருந்த அகிலாவையும் ரவியையும் திரும்பிப் பார்த்த ரகு, ‘‘Already I have instructed that if you want cultivate the habit of reading, you must start reading tales, fables and small stories ( Somebody may have a sufficient knowledge in language aspects such as vocabulary and sentence formation.  Those people can start reading newspapers. Especially, they must have clarity at what to read. If you construe that reading top to bottom of the newspaper is the only way to develop English.  No. It is not a smart move.

Whichever topic that you have interest in, start reading that particular part fist  படிக்க வேண்டும் என்றால், சிறுசிறு கதைகளிலிருந்து தொடங்க வேண்டும் என ஏற்கனவே சொல்லியிருக்கேன்.  சிலருக்குச் சிறுகதைகளைத் தாண்டி ஆங்கிலச் சொற்பிரயோகம், வாக்கிய அமைப்புகளில் போதுமான திறமை இருக்கும். அது போன்று இருப்பவர்கள் செய்தித்தாள் படிக்க ஆரம்பிக்கலாம். அதிலும் எதைப் படிக்க வேண்டும் என்ற தெளிவு வேண்டும். ‘ஒரு வரி விடாம வாசிக்க வேண்டும். அப்பதான் நல்லா இங்க்லிஷ் வரும்’ என நினைத்தால் அது புத்திசாலித்தனம் இல்லை. உங்களுக்கு எந்த டாபிக் அதிகமாய் பிடிக்குமோ அந்தப் பகுதியைத்தான் முதலில் படிக்க வேண்டும்’’ என்றார் ரகு.

மேலும் தொடர்ந்த அவர், ‘‘(For Example, I like sports. Whenever I grasp the paper, I will lay my eyes only in the sports column. Your mind would start visualizing when you go through news on cricket game which was played yesterday. When your mind prepares you the visualization of the words that are read, subconsciously everything gets (Vocabulary, sentence formation and grammar) settled in. Such subconscious recording of the language will get exposed whenever you like to. You may wonder even.) உதாரணமா எனக்கு விளையாட்டுச் செய்திகள் மிகவும் பிடிக்கும். செய்தித்தாளை எடுத்தால் முதலில் அந்த பக்கத்தில்தான் என் கண்களைப் பதிப்பேன். அதிலும் நேற்று நடந்த கிரிக்கெட்டை பற்றி வந்த இன்றைய செய்தியைப் படிக்கும்போது மனதில் காட்சி விரியும்.

எழுத்துகள் மூலமாக நம் எண்ணங்கள் எப்போது காட்சியாய் விரிகிறதோ, அன்று முதல் சொற்பிரயோகங்கள், வாக்கிய அமைப்புகள் நம்மை அறியாமல் நம் ஆழ்மனதில் பதிய ஆரம்பிக்கும். இப்படிப் பதியும் மொழிப்பதிவுதான், எப்போது தேவைப்படுகிறதோ அப்போது இயல்பாகவே எந்தவித முன்னேற்பாடுமின்றி நம் வாயிலிருந்து வெளிப்படும். நமக்கே அது விந்தையாகப் படும்’’ என்று சொல்லிக்கொண்டே அகிலாவையும் ரவியையும் பார்த்தார்.
