ஆங்கில மொழிப் பயிற்சிக் கான இந்தப் பகுதியில் சில கதாபாத்திரங்கள் பேசிக் கொள்வதாக ஆங்கில மொழியை கையாளும் விதத்தை வழங்கிவந்தோம். கடந்த  சில இதழ்களில் பயிற்சிப் பகுதியாக வழங்கி வருகிறோம்.

SPOT THE ERROR AND RECTIFY
1. Lead is heavier to / than any other metal.
2. I am senior to / than by two years.
3. Sundar is inferior to / than Abdul in intelligence.          
4. She is good / better than him.
5. He is bravest than / of all men in the village.      
6. This is superior to / than that.
7. He is junior to / than me in service.                      
8. I prefer orange to / than apple.
9. He is wiser of / than the two.                                
10. Hunger is the better / best sauce.

KEY

1. than 2. to 3. to 4. better 5. of 6. to 7. to 8. to 9. of   10. best (superior, inferior, senior,  junior, prefer, refer are followed by ‘to’ instead of ‘than’)

Elder and eldest are applied to persons. They are confined to the members of the same family. எல்டர் மற்றும்  எல்டஸ்ட் என்ற பெயருரிச் சொற்கள் மனிதர்களுக்கு மட்டுமே பயன்படுத்தப்படுவதாகும். அதிலும் குறிப்பாக ஒரே குடும்பத்தை சேர்ந்த நபர்களுக்கு மட்டுமே  பயன்படுத்தப் படுகிறது. e.g My elder sister is a doctor. His eldest brother is an artist. She is my eldest  daughter.

Older and oldest are applied to things as well as to persons and denote the age; ஓல்டர் மற்றும ஓல்டஸ்ட் என்ற  பெயருரிச்சொற்கள்  மனிதர்கள், கூடவே பொருட்களுக்கு  பயன்படுத்தப் படுகின்றன. அதிலும் முக்கியமாய் வயதினை குறித்து வரும்போது அதிகம்  உபயோகப்படுத்தப் படுகின்றன. e.g., Our house is older than yours. Sunil is older than Anil. This temple is the  oldest one of this area.

இதுவரை போட்டித் தேர்வுகளில் வரும் ஸ்பாட் த எரர்ஸில் 1. Subject Verb Agreement 2. The Articles and 3. The Adjectives  பார்த்தோம். அடுத்து Correct usage of Tense Forms பாரக்கலாம்.
